I personally evaluated my product using the criteria that I developed. I scored a 6/8 for this project.
The product had a variety of strengths. The book had good quality images, with correct descriptions underneath it. The information was well detailed, with scientific processes described fluently. The book has a total length of 83 pages, including the ending pages which are extras. The target audience’s needs were met, by using imagery and creative designs in the book, and a captivating front cover design (See appendix G).
If I could re-do this project I would make some changes. Firstly, I would have used a better app to produce my book. The app that was used for writing the book was Microsoft Word, which has a great formatting and editing styles in terms of the information and content aspect of things, however for designing and moving around images it is very difficult.
Secondly the printing of the book is included in the criteria, but due to current circumstances the book could not be printed, instead it had to be published on a website named “kindle direct publishing”. There were a few errors when publishing the book such as information or images not fitting from the book not fitting into the pages as well as re-sizing the cover image. These glitches were minor, and were ignored. This was also one reason why I couldn’t achieve a higher score in my criteria, as printing was a must to achieve a 7 or 8.

My personal project experience had both its ups and downs. During personal project I learnt so many new skills and developed my understanding of space and astronomy. I learnt so much in the creation of my book about space and also learning new and applying existing skills in designing as well as using applications. Not to mention my subject specific skills improved a lot (English and Physics). This will help me in my daily activities, school work and my future. Personal project is an experience that I will never forget because it made me more flexible to time, faster in thinking and allowed my communication skills to better. Apart from my final product, the actual process of planning and writing my report has prepared me for potential projects in DP and my future in general.
Personal project also caused some problems for me personally, mostly related to stress. I challenged myself to write a book for my product and at the same time write the report which was incredibly hard to manage. This created stress, especially because year 11 comes with many tasks, assessments and assignments since it's the last year of MYP. Nevertheless I got it done at the end and all on time, so it is possible!
Overall my MYP Personal Project was a great experience and has helped me in so many ways which will definitely benefit me in the long run :).
